If we could talk to the animals

Apparently Madame L's cat is far more sensitive to the roilings of the bowels of the earth than our rabbit is.

Also, it's interesting to note that we both link to the same quakenerd web site.

Bunnyquake!

Last night we were watching a movie in the living room when the building jolted and shook for a few seconds -- our first perceptible quake since moving to the Bay Area.

I've been waiting for this moment to see how Usagi would react -- after all, aren't animals supposed to have a special sense for seismic events, displaying all sorts of unusual behavior as the earth moves? Usagi responded to the motion of the tectonic plates by continuing to diligently preen her ears, followed by a thorough and undoubtedly satisfying round of scratching. However, her nonchalance was probably just because it was only a minor quake; I'm sure that a few minutes before the Big One hits she'll run around the apartment to wake us all up, giving us time to run safely into the street.
