Bunnyquake!

Last night we were watching a movie in the living room when the building jolted and shook for a few seconds -- our first perceptible quake since moving to the Bay Area.

I've been waiting for this moment to see how Usagi would react -- after all, aren't animals supposed to have a special sense for seismic events, displaying all sorts of unusual behavior as the earth moves? Usagi responded to the motion of the tectonic plates by continuing to diligently preen her ears, followed by a thorough and undoubtedly satisfying round of scratching. However, her nonchalance was probably just because it was only a minor quake; I'm sure that a few minutes before the Big One hits she'll run around the apartment to wake us all up, giving us time to run safely into the street.

First look

Finally found the cable for my camera so here are some pictures from the move. First of all, an action shot of Usagi in the truck:

This is our new street:

Unloading on a hill like this presented some problems.

Yours truly standing straight up in the back of the truck:

Orientation starts tomorrow. I'll try to get some more pictures up as soon as I can.

Typhoon Usagi

Typhoon Usagi hits southern Japan
Eighteen people were injured and thousands sought shelter as Typhoon Usagi struck Japan's southern island of Kyushu.

Here's a picture of Usagi:

You wouldn't think she could do all that much damage. Of course, she has grown a bit since this picture was taken.

Coming soon: Godzilla vs Usagi!
